Owner's Description

The representative note is a 1 peso note (S101b) dated 30th June 1920 and signed by L. P. Aguirre and Javier Valenzuela Micheo (Directors) and A. R. Prentice (Manager). The front of the note depicts Cybele riding a chariot drawn by two lions, as the goddess of nature, fertility and agriculture – an appropriate representation for an agricultural mortgage bank. This association is further enforced by the scenes flanking the goddess, which highlight agricultural production and the corresponding trade. The back has a female effigy at the centre.
