I collected coins as a kid and had Lincolns, Jeffersons, mercs, and Rosies. I discovered girls and coins took a back seat. I still checked my change and set aside any wheaties or silver i got but the active collecting was put on a back burner until 2000 when my mom passed away. She left me a bunch of proof sets and other coins that reignited my interest. I have been plugging away ever since. My dad passed in 04 and I added his collection to my growing hoard including a very nice roll of 37 buffaloes. I turned down $900 from my local shop and began to understand the business aspect as opposed to a hobby. It has colored my buying ever since which I hope has made me a better buyer for my kids sake:) My interests have changed over time but I have remained steadfast in pursuing to completion my merc and walker short sets. Most of my collection is raw but I have quite alot slabbed as you can see if you check out my sets here. One of the biggest helps to me was a site called trading slabs which is all about trading and sharing info about coins and interests. I have gained much insight from my friends there. I highly recommend joining and will gladly pm you all the pertinent information.
