Silver's Bio
April 2026. Been awhile since I did an update. I have completed some sets, closed in on others, and started some new ones.
I only need two more Sugar and Spikes to complete a full run. I had to lower my grade goals to get these last couple, I can always upgrade later. I suspect I will be the only person to ever get all 98 issues in a registry set. Some of my copies are gorgeous, check em out.
I decided to expand my Action, Adventure, and World’s Finest runs to the pre-code era. Action and Adventure I’m starting at 200 and World’s’ Finest from 71. I really love these mid 50’s issues.
My EC Sci-fi run has grown, out of all 57 I now need 10 Weird Fantasy and 10 Weird Science. I’ve gotten farther than I thought I would. Still not sure I will complete them. I have some stunning Gaines file copies that are some of my favorite books in my collection.
Overall, I still enjoy the hobby immensely, but as I am getting older, I wonder how long I will continue to grow the collection. For right now I can’t seem to stop ??
September 2022. I have collected mostly DC's with a focus on silver age titles starring Superman and Superboy.
I have completed Superboy, Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, Superman Family, Superman 100-282, Adventure 261-380, Action Comics 250-414, all of the LSH appearances in Adventure Comics, and Superman Annual 1-8.
I have also recently completed a series I’ve collected since I was a kid, Brave and the Bold. My goal is to now complete a Sugar and Spike run. I still have a little ways to go on Sugar and Spike, I am somewhere around 80 out of 99 issues. I don’t ever really expect to finish this run, but every new issue I acquire feels like a major accomplishment!
I do collect other stuff, notably EC Sci-if books as well as some Marvel titles such as the new X-Men. My recent highlights are a Weird Science Fantasy #22 Gaines copy and a nice Crime SuspenStories 22.
I also pick up odds and end here and there and like upgrading some books. Oh, I also am trying to put a nice Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer set together.
I have enjoyed the boards both in meeting so many great collectors and in learning so much more about the hobby thank I could have anywhere else.
I love collecting comics and can’t see ever stopping.
