This was 6th in this coin series. It was John Mercanti that worked with the Perth Mint too design these coins. This is one of my favorites. The soaring eagle, the Australia NGC case and of course, the signature of John Mercanti.
The reverse designs in this series come from a name many numismatists in North America know well: John Mercanti. Designing the reverse images since 2014, the former Chief Engraver of the United States Mint creates beautiful designs of a powerful bird.

This is the 3th coin in the series. John Mercanti worked with the Perth Mint in Australia in designing this coin.
The Wedge-tailed Eagle is Australia's largest living bird of prey and one of the largest eagles in the world. It gets it's name from the shape of it's tailfeathers.

First struck in 1986, the Gold Eagle coin program is one of the world's most popular gold coin programs. The coins are available in 1/10oz, 1/4oz, 1/2oz, and 1oz sizes, with face values of $5, $10, $25, and $50, respectively. Once again, 2003 showed little change in mintage from the previous few years. The same goes for the quality, as 34% of the 2003 $5 gold eagles submitted were graded MS70 by NGC.

The 2020 W Silver Eagle Proof is the last full year of the Silver Eagle with the reverse designed by John Mercanti. This is also the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II. It is designated by a V75 privy on the coin.
This coin was released as a commemorative of the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II. These proof coins has a special privy that has “V75” on the obverse. There were only 75,000 coins minted.
This coin was released to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II. The Silver Eagles are marked with V75 on the face of the coin.

The Silver Eagle series had its 21st birthday in 2006, and with it came the nicest coins issued up to that date. This date usually comes with a very satiny appearance with few milk spots. Around 3.3% of 2006 Silver Eagles graded by NGC were MS70's.

The auction listed all single coins until coins 51 thru 100 sold in sets of either silver or gold for the T-1 and T-2 and then listed four coins, 2 silver one T-1 and one T-2 and two gold T-1 and T-2. This coin is T-1 Silver from that set. This is coin 177 T-1. I was lucky enough to win the lot that held all four 177 coins.
The United States Mint held an auction to sell the last five hundred coins of the old design eagles, T-1 and the first five hundred coins of the new design, T-2. NGC graded the coins numbered from 1 thru 250 and PGCS graded the coins numbered 251 thru 500. These coins are numbered sequentially in the order that they were produced. It is the first time the mint has held an auction for the changing of coin design. The US Mint along with Stacks Bowers Auctions held an auction through the website for Stacks Bowers on September 1, 2021. The last silver eagle in the old design, T-1, sold for $85,000.00 and the first eagle struck with the new design, T-2, sold for $80,000.00. The total sales price for the silver and gold coins was $4,616,700.00. It was a massive success. I was lucky enough to purchase several of these.
