1958 P mint Franklins with FBL are surprisingly difficult to find. Images by Laura DeFalco.

There is a substantial ding going N to S on Ben's cheek, hence the 64. OTOH the ding is toned over so it is not really noticeable. I've seen a LOT of '58-D Franklins. This is unquestionably one of, if not the prettiest, I've ever seen. It has mind melting color. Images by Shane Canup.

Pink is a very rare color for Frankies, but there is no question this is NT. Arguably my favorite coin from 1958. Images by Bob Campbell.

There was only one 1958 die that made MONSTER deep cameo coins. It is estimated that only 10 to 20 coins were made with ultimate cameo contrast. I started collecting cameo Frankies in the late 1980's. My birthyear is 1958 so I have continually strived to upgrade the representative coin for this date. It took me until 2006, but I finally found a Frankie from this top die. The dot on the cheek does not exist in reality, it is an artifact of imaging.

I bought this one sight unseen figuring that NGC is tough on FBL. Unfortunately when I got it I realized that there is NO WAY this should be a FBL. While the coin does have a reedmark on Ben's head, on the whole I agree with the 66 grade as it is quite clean otherwise. While I'm bummed about the FBL, the coin is flat out gorgeous otherwise, so that's why I'm including it in this set. The images are by Bob Campbell.

A technically clean 67 obverse, with beautiful toning as "frosting" on top. The reverse, while toned on the periphery, is basically white. It is nice too, but has a few more nicks than the obverse and I'd grade it a 66. The images are by Bob Campbell.

While graded a 67 by PCGS personally technically I'd grade this coin a 65/65+ obverse and a 66+/67- reverse. On the other hand it certainly has the eye appeal of a 67, with stunning iridescent royal blue and gold toning... the visually most arresting 1958-P I've ever seen. It is argueably a FBL, I'll probably send it in for a designation review at some point in time. This coin was imaged by Bob Campbell.
