Owner Comments:

Great Basin National Park, located in Nevada, was initially established as the Lehman Caves National Monument on January 24, 1922, and eventually became Great Basin National Park on October 27, 1986. Besides Lehman Caves, the park is home to Wheeler Peak, the second highest peak in Nevada, and several Bristlecone Pine groves containing some of the oldest living organisms in the world. The coin’s reverse features a Bristlecone Pine tree growing in the rocky glacial moraines of Great Basin.

I visited Great Basin on September 27, 2024, and hiked to the Bristlecone Pine grove on Wheeler Peak to take this picture of a Bristlecone Pine tree.
