Owner Comments:

Lubeck 1/2 taler (16 shilling). The obverse features an early example of St John the Baptist holding a lamb, a symbolic representation of Christ, which was a common design element used with Lubeck free city coinage from the 1500s through the late 1700s. The reverse features the crowned imperial eagle, a symbol of Lubeck's imperial freedom from 1226 to 1937.
