Set Description
CATWOMAN: The First 80 Years (1940 - 2020) and Beyond!
Wonder Woman may be the world’s most widely recognized female comic book character, but another character who debuted a year earlier would win the 2nd place award in that category. Since her first appearance in Batman #1 (1940), CATWOMAN (Selina Kyle) has clawed her way into 80 years worth of comic books as well as into Batman’s affections, leading up to their 2017 engagement and 2018 planned wedding. In television and movies, she has appeared in both in live-action and animated form, with many actresses lending their likeness and/ or their voice to the character.
Just like a cat has 9 lives, this Feline Femme Fatale has donned at least 9 costumes in her different incarnations. Whether it be her classic Golden Age purple dress with green cape, Silver Age look that inspired the 70’s Mego action figure, Cat-like appearance seen in her first solo series in the 80’s, purple outfit as seen in her first ongoing title in the 90’s, grey jumpsuit from Batman: The Animated Series, or black jumpsuit from the ‘00’s. Whether the villainous cat-burglar, or whether the heroine, Catwoman has PURRRRR-fectly grabbed our attention for 8 decades.
This set was 10 years in the making, and showcases 270 of Catwoman’s Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age, Copper Age, and Modern Age key issues, and more in the first 80 years after her debut (1940 - 2020).
