Set Description
This is a collection of LB Cole issues that aren't a part of an existing set here on the registry. Cole did a bunch of 1-offs so I'll be adding them and other books that I'm not likely to get a set of here to help to keep track of them.

Set Goals
I'm an LB Cole freak so I'm looking to get copies of them all!

4_Fav_13 Four Favorites 13 C-1 4.0 This one starts off the set as it's LB Cole's first comic cover ever! It's pretty rough and Cole hadn't really gotten his feel for things yet I guess, but it's still pretty cool. Happy to have a copy of this tough to locate issue in the the collection! View Comic
Bingo_1 Bingo Comics 1 Universal 3.5 One of the coolest 1-shots of the golden age! First, there's something about those yellow covers that just stand out. Besides that we've got a bi-plane chasing down some OPIUM smugglers! How friggin' cool is that! The more obscure the book the more I have to have it, so this one was high on my want list! I love this one! :D View Comic
Flaming_West_3 Flaming Western Romances 3 Universal 4.0 This cover is fantastic! A total western babe standing with her man under the starry and moon-light sky! It seems basic enough but Cole adds in the details of the boots, the guns, the cacti even! Of course Cole has to add in the horses, but there's still room enough for a photo and story titles! Tailspin_1 Tailspin nn Universal 5.0 A somewhat rare in nice grade LB Cole cover, and back cover too! This one-shot features a few planes on a bomb run while taking in some flack on a bright yellow cover. The poster-colored planes on the back cover with plane designations and descriptions are also cool! Something similar to some of his Contact covers, while the front looks like it could have been an issue of Captain Flight View Comic
JT_16 Jungle Thrills 16 Universal 5.0 Gorillas just love blondes in bikini's! View Comic
Int_Sec_Rom_1 Intimate Secrets of Romance 1 Universal 5.0 One of the tougher romance titles to track down from Star, this two-issue run of course has LB Cole covers. Here we have a close-up of two lovers pondering their future in a club featuring one of Cole primary colored backgrounds. Currently only 2 higher on the census, and those are barely above this copy, with only 7 total. View Comic
Int_Sec_Rom_2 Intimate Secrets of Romance 2 Universal 4.0 The second and last issue of this small run and I think the cooler of the two. Cole used the swirling effect a few times on his romance books, evoking a confusing and tumultuous thrill-ride that is falling in and out of love! This issue being notoriously hard to find I settled on this copy, unfortunately having one major crease that otherwise would have left me with an outstanding copy. 1 in the same 4.0, 2 higher, and currently only 6 total on the census! Killers_1 Killers 1 Universal 4.5 Assassins! Look out! View Comic
Shock_20 Shock Detective Cases 20 Universal 5.5 Cool "Strangler" cover. Good interior art on this one too! View Comic
Smash_Sports Smash Hit Sports Comics 1 Universal 5.0 There aren't enough sports related comics from this era! What few there are are awesome, especially if LB Cole drew the cover!

Since this comic isn't one sport specific, why just feature one when you can show four? Or even more if you count the shadow figures on the left! My favorite is the baseball, with maybe his best signature placement ever, but you knew a horse would make an appearance. The water sport give Cole a chance to draw water, always a treat.

A tougher black cover and a random one-shot that's certainly not on everyone's radar, but should be!

EQ_1 Ellery Queen 1 Universal 4.0 Not an LB Cole cover, but he did some interior art and Kamen did a great job on it! View Comic
Conf_Love_11 Confessions of Love 11 Universal 5.0 Does this not scream "Love is in the air" or what? I'd put this cover up against any other in the genre. Without a doubt one of Cole's best. He drew all animals so well and he got to show that off in this beauty of a cover. View Comic
Conf_Love_14 Confessions of Love 14 Universal 5.5 If you can't take the heat, read another comic! This book is on fire!

This is one of those that must have jumped out off the rack. From the flames to the floating lovers (one smoking!) this is one intense cover!

If I had this one pressed it may have gotten a bit higher grade, with not all but many of the notes identifying creases. Maybe in the future. Until them I'm more than happy!

Conf_Rom_9 Confessions of Romance 9 Universal 7.0 Bright yellow & red sunset-like trees in the background of this romance book. It's an effect Cole used a handful of times and oddly enough on both romance and horror covers!

Currently, this is the sole top graded copy on the census.

Conf_Rom_10 Confessions of Romance 10 Universal 3.5 Again, as in the previous cover, Cole uses that two-tone background effect although with yellow, black, and green this time. This cover is varied with the background narrative being in a circle and not just written on the cover.

I'd just like to note here that this series is a tough get in any shape. I'd imagine that most copies that get graded (of which there are very few of any copy on the census currently) will be in this range. Time will tell.

Conf_Rom_11 Confessions of Romance 11 Universal 5.5 I completely love this cover! It's not like any other romance cover I've even seen.

The setting is innocent enough, but there is a ton implied here. 50's teens slow dancing and making out in a basement while listening to records. It's a mini-time capsule.

This has a TON of Cole-ism's in it too. Easily noticeable is the color scheme - a room that's purple on purple? Then you have the primary-colored rug, all within the layered perspective and the thickly-dotted inks. Oh - and of course there's someone wearing plaid!

This one has it all, snag it if you find it!
