"In the Kingpin's Clutches"
DD wakes up in the back of a garbage truck having landed there last issue after his fight with Bullseye. And then we see the Kingpin wipe out some lowlife and convey a message that he is ready to deal for his wife. Vanessa's abductors hold a meeting in which they appear to be panicking. Bullseye is sent out to arrange a trade of Vanessa for the Kingpin's files. Bullseye is not happy being a lackey.
That night Daredevil visits Josie's in his civvies to see what's up with Kingpin's coming back. He creates a massive brawl and is taken by Turk directly to the Kingpin. Matt passes himself off as "Shades" a deadly accurate hired man. Just then the message from Bullseye comes stumbling in. Meet the mob at a construction site tomorrow tonight. Lynch wants to rub out the crime lords but Kingpin will have none of it! He just wants his wife back.
Later Matt tries to get into the Kingpin's vault. It takes a missive effort to budge the door. Once inside he is quickly found out by the Kingpin. Matt changes into his red pajamas and despite his fighting skills is out muscled by Fisk.
Kingpin goes to the appointed meeting place. He has booby trapped the file case and as it is opened a sonic device sounds off. Bullseye falls from his sniper perch, Kingpin moves towards Vanessa and Lynch activates his mortar. The whole construction site comes down around them presumably killing Vanessa! Lynch makes the Kingpin leave the site and convinces him that he know must take serious action.
Our last scene is of DD bound and gagged being stuffed into a sewer pipe. How long can he hold his breath?!
After a prolonged letter page crusade (and one would imagine increased sales), this month Daredevil achieves "Monthly" publishing status.
