Owner's Description

I added this book to my collection, and this set in June 2024 with the help of fellow CGC Forum Member RockMyAmadeus… thank you Sir! I really love the silver signature on this black and white cover!

I already had a very nice Universal 9.8 that was from my original raw collection so I wasn’t really looking to upgrade this book any time soon… in fact, I didn’t even know that this Signature Series book was available until I stumbled upon it while doing other searches… I’m glad I found it and that we were able to make a deal! It’s a very nice addition!

My Universal 9.8 is the only book that I have ever sent to CGC that I was absolutely, 100 percent, no doubt about it, confident that it was a 9.8. It was from my original collection and when I pulled it out to consider sending it in for grading I felt that it was perfect. It had been bagged and boarded forever and I don't think it had ever even been cracked open. I could find absolutely no flaw anywhere on it. I was actually thinking in the back of my mind that it could be the one that gets a 9.9 or even a 10.

Don't get me wrong, I was happy when it got 9.8 but I would really like to know what CGC found to knock it down from 10 or 9.9. I did get it pressed like every other book I submit so maybe that was a case where I should have bypassed that to cut down on the book being handled. I guess I'll never know for sure.

The second picture is of the Funeral for a Friend Collector's Pack that some of these books can be found in, and which I mention in other book's descriptions. It doesn't really have anything to do with this particular book but I wanted to fit a picture of it in this gallery so I decided to add some color to this slot with it. I bought a couple of these but didn't have great luck pulling 9.8's out of them. They are really fun to open though and are an important piece of this story's later printings history!
