Owner's Description
Kaluta is one of my top five favorite comic book artists and is, I believe, extremely underrated. His art work on this title, and, somewhat later, the Shadow-among other titles-made me a devout Kaluta fan and I continue to be one.
Like Adams before him, Kaluta did so much on so little, cover space that is, that it simply impresses the heck out of me. In fact, it impressed me so much that Kaluta is only one of two comic book artists from which I have several original cover pieces that I purchased way back during the "comic book dark ages" of the 1980s.
Keeper, Keeper (although a typical CGC graded 9.8 copy of this issue would be greatly appreciated for this, my second, Detective Comics 401 to 500 set).
In honor of Kaluta-because "superb" aptly describes the cover of this issue-the description of the book that enticed me to purchase it, as if I needed any enticement, follows.
"SECOND HIGHEST GRADED COPY (behind a lone 9.8)!! Featuring a superb KALUTA cover and a BATGIRL BACKUP STORY by Frank Robbins, this "bone" white paged beauty is unimprovable. Worthy an honored place in your high grade collection."
Issue Credits (as per the CGC Universal Label):
Frank Robbins story
Bob Brown, Dick Giordano, and Don Heck Art
Michael Wm. Kaluta cover
Issue Note (as per the CGC Universal Label):
Batgirl backup story.
