Owner's Description

Issue #21 features the origin and first appearance, of Power Man, Erik Josten, along with an appearance by the Enchantress. Erik Josten was an American soldier turned mercenary. On a delivery to South America he was mutated by Baron Zemo's Ionic Ray by the Enchantress infusing him with ionic energy, he then joined the Masters of Evil as Power Man. He took many other code names over the years such as the Smuggler. He was later mutated further by Dr. Karlin Malus using Pym Particles to become Goliath and became known as Atlas when he tried to become a hero and joined the Thunderbolts.

In the story, the Enchantress uses the deceased Baron Zemo’s machine to grant Josten super-strength and he is given the name Power Man.

The Enchantress then creates a number of illusions around the city that make the Avengers seem dangerous when they accidentally destroy property and endanger lives. Captain America tries to subdue Power Man as he attacks men with important documents, only to find out that the men were impostors trying to steal them.

Hawkeye, Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are also caught with similar traps. The Avengers believe themselves to be nuisances and are ordered by the authorities to disband-sounds a lot like Civil War.

Our WP 9.8 is one of five highest graded copies.
