Owner's Description

Both the FF and Doctor Doom make appearances in Issue #25. In the story, Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver receive a letter from their Aunt in Latveria and decide to visit her, accompanied by Captain America and Hawkeye. But when they arrive, they are all jailed and discover the letter was to lure them into a trap set up by Doctor Doom, who decides defeating the Avengers will instill fear into the Fantastic Four, making them easier to defeat-OK, it’s a little hokey, but I guess any excuse to employ Dr Doom.

The Fantastic Four attempt to assist the Avengers, but are not allowed, as interference could spark an international incident. Nevertheless, the Avengers escape and fight Doom to a standstill, when he causes a diversion and escapes.

Our Rocky Mountain Pedigree copy is second highest graded trailing four 9.8s. The Rocky Mountain Collection was assigned to a large Marvel and DC Silver Age collection originally auctioned by Comiclink in 2008. The Spider-Man, Fantastic Four and X-men runs were first auctioned without pedigree, but due to high collector interest the decision was made by CGC to classify the collection as a pedigree. Subsequently those three runs were retroactively given the Rocky Mountain notation. Hailing from Colorado, the collection numbered around 5,000 books, initially stored in a basement in similar conditions to the Mile High collection. None of the books exhibit identifying marks, but are easily traceable back to Comiclink.

We have really tried to upgrade our 9.6 here with no success, which is a little surprising in that there are four 9.8s in the census. It breaks up a run of 10 consecutive 9.8s, so we will keep trying. We acquired our current book from the 6/10/2011 Pedigree Comics Auction. At least it’s a Pedigree!
