Amazing Spider-Man #344 features the 1st cameo appearance of Cletus Kasady (Carnage) + the 1st full appearance of Cardiac (Elias Wirtham)!
Overstreet 2023 NM- 9.2 value = $65.
According to the CGC Census Report as of Tuesday, August 22, 2023, out of a total of 4,493 Universal copies graded, 1,244 copies were graded in 9.8 with ONLY 4 copies graded higher in 9.9!
With these statistics in mind, this represents a rarity factor of 27.69% of the total population.

Perhaps there is no other character in the entire Marvel Universe who is as insane and innately murderous than Mr. Cletus Kasady! We’re talking about killing your own grandmother after pushing her down a flight of stairs—AS A CHILD! Then, trying to kill his mother by tossing a television into the bathtub and following that up by torturing and killing her dog! Again—AS A CHILD! This dude is SICK! Like the classic Hip-Hop song by Cypress Hill states, “Insane in the Membrane—Insane in the Brain!”
Kasady’s mentally deranged and psychopathic behavior only got worse with time. For instance, after witnessing his father nearly beating his mother to death in retaliation to his mom attempting to murder Cletus, he was sent to an orphanage—St. Estes Home for Boys, where he murdered the disciplinarian administrator, pushed a girl in front of a moving bus for laughing at him and eventually burned down the entire institution! As an adult, Cletus Kasady became a serial killer and was eventually convicted of 11 murders, but proudly bragged about a dozen more!
While serving a life sentence at Ryker’s Island in New York City, his cellmate was none other than Mr. Eddie Brock, who would be rescued by the Venom symbiote! After breaking him out of prison, Venom left his offspring behind, which eventually bonded with Cletus Kasady through an open wound—turning him into Carnage!
Moreover, actor Woody Harrelson introduced Cletus Kasady into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in a mid-credits scene for Venom (2018). In turn, he will reprise the role in the highly anticipated Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which is scheduled to premiere on October 15, 2021!
As a result, there has been a steady increase in demand for high-grade copies of ASM #344, which will only continue to rise as Cletus Kasady (Carnage) becomes more popular on the silver screen!
Although ASM #344 is not considered rare, as the combined total of Universal 9.6 and 9.8 copies equals more than half the total population on the CGC Census, this particular 9.8 copy is exceptional because it is PERFECTLY WRAPPED and CENTERED and contains PERFECT WHITE PAGES!
In addition, the staple placement is excellent, the book is perfectly cut and the color saturation is deep and bright!
In closing, I purchased this pristine beauty from a-1comics (via eBay) in December of 2020! The transaction and communication went extremely well and I’m proud to showcase this immaculate copy in Arachnophobia!
