Owner's Description

Hobgoblin, Jason Macendale (formerly Jack O' Lantern.) It is time for the Goblins to quit and start anew! 1st New Hobgoblin, just to see it through, and later, demonstrating there are a lot of people out there to squash a spider! Man! Spidey-sense tingles a bit of all of those future arachnophobia villains that want to get revenge or some such grudge. Hobgoblin was tough to picture at the time as the ultimate enemy, yet it worked so perfectly in the end when they finally revealed that the original was Ned Leeds. Problem is they had several iterations, that's why they had to advertise it right on the cover, as it was always someone new! Makes me wonder if they had to rewrite to make the event worth it. People thought that it may last as long as any Goblin, but to be sure, Marvel was going with what they knew and what seemed to sell. This was all a big transition, if it was to be successful. It teased me on the newsstands too early on, but these were the stories that demanded character building most of all!

Complete with a back cover picture of the handheld video game "Spider-Man featuring the Hobgoblin!" Circa 2023 Christmas! A gift from my parents who had bought me Double Dragon in the same style as a kid! Nostalgia at its finest!
