The villains were out in the night knowing what we know now or had ideas of suspicions about Parker, but then and there, it was perfectly normal to keep up the secrecy to all! According to Peter Parker who is trying to sort it all out, through emotional turmoil, questions arise. Like, who do you trust? Peter Parker is finding out what it means to be the person underneath the mask, he's not the only one. Many a time these costumed "heroes" will be deemed villains, and some actually are? If James Jonah Jameson has anything to say about it, these are all the stories that matter! Time will come for these, can't help but buy Silver Age!
