The Man of Steel Fights for His Life!
I really like the way Pa and Superman are reaching out to one another. The story of Pa and Clark has been portrayed different ways in various media; movies, cartoons, TV, and comics. I personally prefer when Jonathan is alive and still available to mentor Clark as he works through the challenges of being caught between a regular existence as Clark and also having so many people rely on him to be Superman. I don't think this is incredibly different than anyone that moves away from home and begins to take on more responsibility, and that may be what I like about it.
I purchased the Universal copy of this book that helped get my Base Set to 100 percent completion on eBay for $129.99. I later added Signature Series copies of this and the Regular Edition, both signed by Jerry Ordway, and later upgraded the Regular Edition again to a Universal 9.9. I had this book reholdered in February 2021. All of my various copies of this book have their own slots in my Custom Set!
The second image shows my original copies of the printings of this book; Regular, Collector's, and Platinum Editions as they were when first collected. I personally had the toughest time finding the Regular Edition. Once I found it, I registered what I had of this set at the time... and then started the difficult search for the rest of the books... in 9.8!
