Owner's Description
I bought this on eBay at a time that I had a copy at CGC for grading. You never know exactly how the grading will go so I decided to get this while I could. I also did not have Brett Breeding's signature on any other book at the time so that was also a bonus.
I really love this cover! It doesn't look at all to me that Superman is flying but rather being lifted up to the Heavens. The pose, the cape, the clouds, the lighting... everything is done perfectly on this cover in my humble opinion. In the case of this Signature Series book I also think the signature is placed really well. I really appreciate when the person signing makes an effort to place the signature in a way that compliments the book and I think Brett Breeding did a great job of that on this book. I was happy to pay $134.99 for this book.
It ends up that my copy came back 9.6 so this ended up being a smart buy!
In the second image slot I included a really cool hand painted limited edition animation cel put out by the Warner Brothers Studio Stores in 1996. I picked this cel to go with this book because like the book, Superman is headed for the skies, and I think this cel also gives the impression that he is effortlessly heading for the Heavens. This cel is signed by Alan Burnett, Paul Dini, and Bruce Timm. This was limited to 500 pieces and mine is 293. This piece was my first foray into collecting wall art. I was living in Iwakuni Japan at the time and the staff at the WB Store in the Glendale CA Galleria were nice enough to mail this to me. I used to stand in front of this piece and get lost in the primary colors and the beautiful lines... I was hooked, and still am, on animation art from this series.
