Even as a kid, I found it concerning that Han Solo was outside in the vacuum of space with only a breathing apparatus. The scanned interior page was selected only because it addressed this issue by providing a brief description that Han was protected by the ship's magnetic field (which was not a great justification but was better than nothing). :)
