I acquired this piece through an eBay auction, one I didn't expect to win. I didn't find the cover appealing but it was an anniversary issue, and the premium edition variant. I decided to forget about the auction to focus on other items, in the end I won for only $16.50.
This piece originally came in the first generation holder with a red "modern grade" label, only used in the first few years of CGC's existence. Unfortunately the case had several scratches that really diminished the eye appeal. Had the previous owner or owners taken better care of the piece, it could have remained as a unique relic from the early days of CGC. While the red label did complement the gold on the cover nicely, the book now book displays much better in its current holder.
