Owner's Description
After searching for quite some time I finally found a Tomb of Dracula #1 9.8 WP book with perfect centering and cover alignment. And this is a truly beautiful book with dripping blood red ink and vampire tooth sharp corners.
But first I should of course introduce the main character of this book, namely Count Dracula:
"Dracula is an 1897 Gothic horror novel by Irish author Bram Stoker. Famous for introducing the character of the vampire Count Dracula, the novel tells the story of Dracula's attempt to move from Transylvania to England, and the battle between Dracula and a small group of men and women led by Professor Abraham Van Helsing.
Dracula has been assigned to many literary genres including vampire literature, horror fiction, the gothic novel and invasion literature. The novel touches on themes such as the role of women in Victorian culture, sexual conventions, immigration, colonialism, and post-colonialism. Although Stoker did not invent the vampire, he defined its modern form, and the novel has spawned numerous theatrical, film and television interpretations."

And then we may continue with a short introduction to the Tomb of Dracula books:
"The Tomb of Dracula is a horror comic book series published by Marvel Comics from April 1972 to August 1979. The 70-issue series featured a group of vampire hunters who fought Count Dracula and other supernatural menaces. On rare occasions, Dracula would work with these vampire hunters against a common threat or battle other supernatural threats on his own, but more often than not, he was the antagonist rather than protagonist. In addition to his supernatural battles in this series, Marvel's Dracula often served as a supervillain to other characters in the Marvel Universe, battling the likes of Blade, Spider-Man, Werewolf by Night, the X-Men, and the licensed Robert E. Howard character Solomon Kane."

Thus this book contains the 1st appearance of Dracula in a Marvel comic. The story in this book was named "Dracula" and was written by Gerry Conway. The interior art (panel pages) was done by Gene Colan and the cover art by Neal Adams.
The story in short: When Frank Drake finds himself drawn to a mysterious castle in the mountains of Transylvania, he accidentally reawakens an ancient curse and unleashes a powerful force for evil onto the world. Dracula, Lord of the Vampires, stalks the earth once more!
The book has 32 pages in color and includes the 1st appearance of Frank Drake. Cover price $0.20.
In 2010, Comics Bulletin ranked Wolfman, Colan, and Palmer's run on The Tomb of Dracula fifth on its list "Top 10 1970s Marvels":
"It's an incredibly daunting challenge: how do you create a memorable comic series that has as its main character one of the most evil characters in all of fiction? Amazingly, Marv Wolfman, Gene Colan and Tom Palmer managed to do exactly that."
