Funny story behind this CGC SS... When I discovered Helen Slater was appearing at LFCC 2014, I went into overdrive trying to find a NM/M copy of issue #50 for the SS. I didn't have much luck until the week running up to the con, where I found what I thought was a near perfect copy (beautiful cover, no spine pulls/stress lines etc). Feeling quite chuffed, I put it to one side until the night before, when on second (and closer) inspection, I discovered it had a very faint crease at the bottom left hand corner (amateur... tsk). The faint crease actually runs throughout all the pages and I wasn't expecting to get higher than 9.2... never been so pleased to get a 9.4!
It was an absolute honour to meet Helen Slater and despite the grade, this now has pride of place amongst my Supergirl collection. So am I going to put it in the main set and lose 14 points? ... Am I heck!
