~In October of 1936, all of the pieces were falling into place for the introduction of the most important character in the history of comic books. Siegel and Shuster were now working comic book artists, having produced stories for several issues Centaur's The Comics Magazine. They had developed an adventure character, Dr. Occult, who for the first time would appear in costume in this very issue. This would also be the first time that the character appeared in color and the first time he would appear in the pages of a DC comic. It would take another year in a half before Action Comics #1 would hit the stands and change the world with the introduction of Superman, but within the pages of More Fun #14 was the most fully realized precursor to date. All comics of this era are tough to find and this issue is no exception with only 13 total examples appearing in the CGC Census. The highest unrestored example is a 6.5, and the highest graded example of any sort is an Extensive Professional 8.5. Examples of these early More Fun issues are considered so inaccesible in the higher grades that Overstreet does not list values over 8.0. Overstreet Price Guide value in unrestored 7.0 is $9800.
