Owner's Description
The Doomed Scarecrow. This is the hIghest graded example and one of just two 9.4s. I did own them both, but had to sell the second one to fund other purchases. This beauty was purchased in the May 28, 2015 Heritage auction and is the nicest known copy as of today.
2022 Update: This is a book where the census has changed dramatically since we began collecting, at one time we owned a 9.0, which was single highest graded, then a 9.4 appeared in the census, which we acquired giving us the two highest graded copies. When a second 9.4 emerged, we also acquired it, giving us the top three copies in the census. Eventually, we sold both the 9.0 and one of the 9.4s. As of August 1, 2022, there are now 12 books in the census graded 9.0 or above with three 9.4s. Needless to say, we would lose our shirt on this one now.
