Synopsis: Logan runs through the wintry woods of New York toward a confrontation with the contract killer McLeish. He reaches the small village where McLeish is holed up, as the hitman activates floodlights and a loudspeaker to welcome his prey. The lights illuminate the strung up corpses of the village's inhabitants, all victims of McLeish. A misstep by Logan activates an explosive, knocking him back several yards. Logan recovers as McLeish goads him forward, explaining how he survived their last encounter when Logan thought the killer had perished.

Logan enters a cabin, but is ambushed by a gunman. He dodges the gunfire and knocks out the assassin. Proceeding further into the cabin, Logan finds, not McLeish, but a Chinese national who states he is the son of a Triad criminal Logan killed ten years earlier. The man claims McLeish is dead and threatens Logan with a pistol loaded with adamantium rounds, but the mutant buries his claws in the would-be killer's chest.

Logan then steps up to a closed door and tells McLeish to come out. Poison-coated adamantium bullets rip through the door and strike Logan, and the aged McLeish emerges. As McLeish stands over Logan gloating, Logan tells him he befriended him only out of pity, and that, as a Canadian agent, he had killed McLeish's son. Furious, McLeish closes in on Logan, allowing him to put his claws through the killer's throat.

Finally recovered, Logan sets fire to the cabin, and walks into the the night.

Another Take: Wolverine follows McLeish’s trail to a small village, where every citizen is dead. He’s confronted by a young man who claims to be McLeish’s son. He says that McLeish died years ago, and he was the one who mimicked his voice on the recordings. Wolverine kills him, and walks deeper into the house. He tells McLeish to show himself. A feeble McLeish emerges, revealing his revenge plan that’s been ten years in the making. When he lunges at Wolverine, he’s quickly killed. Wolverine disposes of the body, wondering if he really isn’t any different than McLeish.
