Owner's Description

I had previously seen a 9.8 copy of this book on eBay auction style that went for a bit over $1000.00. I did not bid on that one!

Much later I spotted this book on My Comic Shop... I normally don't look for this issue (Superman 75) so when I spotted it I didn't realize that it was freshly listed. I made my three offers... the last one was considered by the Seller but they declined within an hour. Around that time it also popped up on eBay and I realized that it had just been listed... no wonder the Seller wasn't entertaining offers yet!

After considering my options, making an offer on eBay that might be accepted + tax and shipping, or going back to My Comic Shop's site and paying the full price there + buyers premium and shipping, I decided to purchase this straight from My Comic Shop. I paid $800.00 for this book, which I consider a great price!

This is a super cool book and it is commonly known that this is a genuine signature so I have zero issues with this book being Qualified... I love that I was able to find a 9.8 copy! I think it rounds out my overall collection of these books PERFECTLY! I mean, what could be better for a guy like me than a CGC 9.8 copy of Superman 75 signed by Jerry Siegel? The answer is, not much!

Note - In May 2024 CGC announced their new service in association with James Spence Authentication (JSA), who they had recently acquired, where you could have the signature authenticated and get a yellow Signature Series label with a banner up top stating that the signature was authenticated. At first I was a little excited about that as I believe it would be cool to actually have this signature "authenticated." The problem was that the book would then have to be regraded. My dilemma... I believe, and I imagine that just about anyone else that knows anything about this book, signature, and its certificate would also agree that this signature is the real deal. This book has also proven to be really hard to find in this grade, and also pretty expensive when you do find it. As much as I'd love the get the neat little "authenticated" banner and yellow label I don't think I am willing to risk the grade on this book to do so... I was pretty happy to have the Qualified label and will stay pretty happy with it!

Now, if CGC ever decides to treat a book like this as a reholder as far as grading goes, and will authenticate the signature without having to regrade it then I'll probably give it a chance, but until then I'm cool.
