Owner's Description
Although Stan's John Handcock is not on this copy, Jack "King" Kirby is. The King deserves recognition in his collaboration with Stan in creating the book that started it all. FF #1's formula of creating superheroes with everyday problems like you and I, proved to become the quintessential formula for success in which to launch so many characters over the ensuing months such as Antman (Jan 62') Hulk (May 62') Thor & Spider-man (both Aug 62') and so it began.... with FF #1. I do wish Stan's signature was on this copy but there is a rare treat in between the cover in the form of Jack “King" Kirby's signature and we were fortunate enough to capture both of their signatures on another key FF issue, the origin of Dr. Doom as revealed in FF Annual. That copy is listed elsewhere in this registry set. As for this particular copy, it is a shame not to be able to see the signature. Perhaps I will send this copy to CGC, have it reholdered, and see if they can take a pick of the signature during the process. We can then feature the signature in the back cover slot for this registry as we did with AF #15 Steve Ditko & Stan Lee's interior signatures, until then, the blue label notation will have to suffice.
