Set Description:
Almost three years ago I came across a review online for "House Of M". I'd been out of collecting for almost 20 years but I had always been a fan of the X-Men since the "Dark Phoenix" saga. I read the first 5 or 6 issues on a plane, then picked up the rest when they came out.
"No More Mutants..."
After that phrase was spoken I was hooked again. Before I knew it I had close to a 5000 piece raw collection covering X-Men, the side titles, and the mini-series, all in high grade.
I started submitting books directly to CGC on pre-screens in February 2008. At first I was going to focus on 9.6 minimums for my copper run but after my first batch came in I decided a complete 9.8 run from 144 up might be attainable by year's end. I started snapping up the missing 9.8s by continuing to submit raw books, and by buying directly from auctions, online sellers, and other members of the Collector's Society.
Well, it looks like I finished early.
My Copper run (144-300) was completed in late May 2008, and my Modern run (301-500) wascompleted in October 2008.
As of June 2010 I currently have a straight run of UXM from 121 through 524 in 9.8 or higher. That's ober 400 issues and over 30 years of 9.8s in a row!
I'm currently working on the Bronze 94-143 portion of the run. I hope to have that portion of the set at 90% 9.8 by the end of 2010.
I will start working on the 1-93 portion of the run in 2009.
Goals are:
1-10: 9.2 minimum 11-93: 9.4 minimum 94-107: 9.6 minimum 108-present: 9.8 minimum
