When stocks of the unused overprinted notes were exhausted, the Bangko Sentral had fresh banknotes printed by the Security Printing Plant, located in Manila. The new notes incorporated the ''ABL'' overprint into the main design. The Bangko Sentral Seal was changed from a fine detailed design to a dark silhouette design, and the 100 piso featured the new Central Bank complex on the reverse of the note.
It was during this series that the Bangko Sentral started releasing commemorative overprints, presentation notes, specimen sets and uncut sheets for sale to collectors.
In 1979 the BSP authorized The Franklin Mint and Thomas De La Rue and Company Ltd. to release a limited edition ''Collector Set'' of 6 Marcos - Licaros notes, 2 - 100 piso. These notes were overprinted SPECIMEN and had a Maltese Cross as a serial number prefix. All sets were issued with a Certificate of Authenticity and an information card. It is advised to avoid single notes that are not in sets.
RARITY... All banknotes of this series are still easy to obtain, except for the ''Hiccup'' notes. These are banknotes left over from earlier print runs with earlier signatures, which were then numbered to be included in a later issue.
The ''Hiccup'' notes......... #35b, 37c
Other hard to find issues are...... #32aP, 34a, 34c, 37b.
PRINTERS... Security Printing Plant, Manila... All Issues
