Owner's Description

Silver Certificate, $1 1899 large size "Horse Blanket".

About Uncirculated, S/N K58073681A (KA Block). Bought on 3/13/2023, $488.49 ($474.99 + $13.50 (shipping)), EBAY, TJ’s Coins and Books). Arrived 3/16/2023.

The Black Eagle design was one of the longest-lived Silver Certificate designs as it was produced from 1899 until 1922. It was replaced in 1923 by the modern portrait we all know of President George Washington that has dominated $1 paper bills for nearly a century.

This Series 1899 $1 Silver Certificate is version Fr# 236, the last version of Series 1899. It was issued in 1922. Harley V. Speelman (HVS), Register of the Treasury as of 1/25/1922, and Frank White (FW), Treasurer of the United States as of 5/2/1921, are on this Silver Certificate; and are also on Series 1923 $1 Silver Certificate version Fr# 237, the first version of Series 1923, which is also part of this set.
