1987 First Year of Issue
Introduced on May 5, 1987, the first one dollar note features Mickey smiling and waving to the holder. The first series of $1.00 and $5.00 notes are printed for use at Disneyland only and in the upper right corner of the face are indicated by: “MAY BE USED AS LEGAL TENDER ONLY AT DISNEYLAND” This note and all consecutive notes are signed by Scrooge McDuck, Treasurer. Above his name is a security mark representing Donald Duck. This mark is used on all notes up to and including the 2001 series. The reverse of the note has a vignette of the Magic Castle. Serial numbers on this series start with an A prefix for Anaheim, the location of Disneyland in California and contain 7 digits.
