Owner's Description
This was part of a new emergency issue and was the highest denomination notes to ever circulate in Nicaragua. This would be the last notes issued under the Sandinista government before the whole currency is scrapped and re-issued as the Cordoba Oro the following year. The exchange rate was roughly 365,000 Cordobas to One US dollar at the time these were released, equating to just over U$13 in value. Hyper Inflation would devalue the currency over the next year so much so that these new notes would only be worth around U$1 by 1991.
The obverse of the note features Cleto Ordoñez who was the General Commander at Arms briefly overthrew the Supreme Head of State Juan Arguello to try and save the political system in the country that was thrown into anarchy in the year 1827.
The rear of the note features the San Francisco Church and Convent in the Colonial city of Granada. Which is currently being used as a museum housing pre-colombian sculptures that are estimated to be over 1000 years old.
