Owner's Description
These newly designed 5 Cordobas notes for Series B for 1995 carried forward a similar images from the previous 1990 notes however they are trying to bring the series design more inline with that of the 1, 10 & 100 Cordobas notes.
There was 11.6 million notes produced for this emission as listed in the decree from the Flores book. This note is 11.4 million so its one of the last ones produced.
The obverse of this 5 Cordobas note shows Diriangen the indigenous tribal warrior who hailed from the now Diriamba region in Nicaragua that led a tribal rebellion against the Spanish conquerors in 1523. As well as "Sorgo" Sorghum a flowering plant that produces grains similar to wheat.
The reverse of the banknotes feature Rafaela Herrera a Nicaraguan heroine that helped defend the fortress of the Immaculate Conception during the battle for the Rio San Juan in 1762.
