Owner's Description
The May 20, 1777 is an underappreciated emission, and the $3 is the sleeper of the set. This is the only bill graded AU or better by PMG, and at last check there were only 8 bills graded, making this the second rarest bill of the series, just behind the April 11, 1778 $20 (CC-76) and one bill ahead of the $8 from the Yorktown Emission. This example is the finest graded by PMG.
There were 238,839 bills authorized. This bill has an image of an Eagle and Heron Fighting with the latin motto EXITUS IN DUBIO EST which translates to english as "the outcome is uncertain". This bill is signed by John Taylor and Aquila Norris.
