Owner's Description

These banknotes for 1991 were printed and distributed to the Central Bank however were never officially released. There were some theories as to why, including a psychological reason that may have spooked the population into thinking the inflationary notes of the 1980s were coming back.

In the Luis Flores book he confirmed that the banknotes were stored in the vaults at the Central Bank, I heard some news from a fellow collector that had advised that these notes were since incinerated. Only a couple of these regular issue notes are known to exist ones that were issued as gifts from the president of the central bank to visiting foreign dignitaries.

The rest of these notes only exist in specimens such as this example.

As at October 2020 this is one of only 4 examples graded by PMG with this example being in equal 1st with two other notes graded 67 EPQ, whilst there is a lower graded 66 EPQ * note.
