The banknote size is 103 x 52 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. This banknote circulated in parallel with 1 leu coin, thus the low series range from 0001 to 0038. The specimen notes have prefix 0000 with narrow letter. The overprinted word SPECIMEN is using sans serif font. This banknote is graded 63 EPQ, (the Top Pop is graded 65EPQ). The banknote size is 114 x 57 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. This banknote circulated for a brief time being replaced by a 3 lei coin; thus is the most expensive banknote in the series, the series ranges from 0001 to 0011 were only issued with narrow letter in the prefix. The specimen notes have prefix 0000 with narrow letter. The overprinted word SPECIMEN is using sans serif font. This banknote is graded 64 EPQ, (the Top Pop is graded 67EPQ). The Banknote has a nice guilloche design with Romania coat of arms, on the front is illustrated the portrait of Alexandru Ioan Cuza, the first domnitor (ruler) of the Romanian Principalities through his double election as prince of Moldavia on 5 January 1859 and prince of Wallachia on 24 January 1859, which resulted in the unification of the two states; he was a prominent figure of the Revolution of 1848 in Moldavia. On the back is illustrated the Palace of Culture in Iasi, an astonishing architecture in a flamboyant Neo-Gothic style. The banknote size is 145 x 72 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. The series ranges from 0003 to 0067; Due to relatively small number of issued banknotes, the 50 lei banknote is the second most wanted in the 1966 series. On the back is illustrated the gorgeous Romanian Athenaeum, which charms with its imposing grandeur and meticulous design by the French architect, Albert Galleron, which skillfully blended French neoclassical and ancient Greek architectural influences to create a visually stunning landmark. The banknote size is 153 x 75 mm, was issued on paper with rhombuses pattern watermark by the National Bank of Romania. The series ranges from 0002 to 0242. The first specimen series were issued with narrow letter in the prefix, (the word SPECIMEN measures 115 mm x 11 mm), later a wide letter was used (the word SPECIMEN measures 72 mm x 6 mm).
