NOTABLE ABOUT THIS NOTE

This note is similar to preceding Series E £20 notes (B358/B371), except the £20 in the top left corner is darker and more clearly defined, and the £20 denomination has been added to the top right corner of both the front (with the crown being replaced) and back.

The first 1,000 notes were never issued, making this the 232nd note issued.


SIGN OF THE TIME

This note features the signature of Graham E.A. Kentfield.

Kentfield was the 28th Chief Cashier of the Bank of England, serving from November 25, 1991 to December 31, 1998.
