This is the first polymer £50 banknote issued by the Bank of England.

The Series G (first issue) Polymer note was the last Bank of England £50 note to feature the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.

This note won the Best New Banknote Award (EMEA Region) during Reconnaissance International’s 2021 High Security Printing virtual award ceremony.

John was the 33rd Chief Cashier of the Bank of England, serving from June 1, 2018 to June 1, 2025.
