Owner's Description: The note representing the Banco de Caldas is a specimen example of the 20 pesos issue. There are two versions of the note, S330 which has a multi-coloured guilloche (PMG has graded 5 examples) and a single colour archival version S331 (3 graded at PMG) and this note is one of multi-coloured types. A portrait of Francisco Jose de Caldas is on the right, with the intricate style of the rest of the design making it easy to identify ABNC as the printer. | Owner's Description: The note selected for the Banco de la Republica is an example of the ‘20 pesos oro’ issued from 1966 to 1983 (p409). Owner's Description: A specimen example of the smallest denomination, from the first issue of the Banco Internacional de Costa Rica is the note selected for this bank. The 25 centimos note from 1918-1919 has the image of an allegorical female on the left representing Costa Rica (Athena? in reference to the 1917 coup), it is interesting that the equivalent in coins was 25 centavos – an error by someone during the rapid changes in government at the time? | Owner's Description: The note represent the current Central Bank of Costa Rica is an example of the 10000 colones from 2005. Owner's Description: I originally bought this note (1 colon, P125b) thinking this would be a cheap modern set to put together whilst working on the Mexican Revolutionary period. However when researching this note there not only appeared to be several notes with this design (P120, P123, P125, P133A) but there did not seem to be a record of all the Series that had been produced. It rapidly became apparent that there was even less information on the dates and signatures on the back! This seemed to be the situation with... | Owner's Description: The example note in this Set is a 5 Francs note from 1947 with M. Buy as the Director (P1e). There are a number of signature varieties for the 5 Francs note and the numbers/series etc are going to take some more research to understand. The front of the note depicts an indigenous male (left) and female (right) with a surround of sugar cane and an anchor indicating a major export of the region. The back highlights Amazonian flora and fauna, a caduceus as a further reference to trade and a female e... |
