Owner's Description:
I originally bought this note (1 colon, P125b) thinking this would be a cheap modern set to put together whilst working on the Mexican Revolutionary period. However when researching this note there not only appeared to be several notes with this design (P120, P123, P125, P133A) but there did not seem to be a record of all the Series that had been produced. It rapidly became apparent that there was even less information on the dates and signatures on the back! This seemed to be the situation with...
Owner's Description:
The example note in this Set is a 5 Francs note from 1947 with M. Buy as the Director (P1e). There are a number of signature varieties for the 5 Francs note and the numbers/series etc are going to take some more research to understand. The front of the note depicts an indigenous male (left) and female (right) with a surround of sugar cane and an anchor indicating a major export of the region. The back highlights Amazonian flora and fauna, a caduceus as a further reference to trade and a female e...

Owner's Description:
Due to the rarity of the issued notes, it is no surprise that the representative note for this bank is a very low grade 1 peso example. This is from the first issue in 1892, which has a handwritten date and signatures, whereas the notes dated 1893 and 1894 have a part printed date. Unfortunately, the combination of handwritten signatures and the low grade of this note makes it impossible to read the signatures however an impressive example, possibly unique graded at AU58, recently appeared at au...
Owner's Description:
The note selected to represent the Banco Colombiano, Guatemala is an example of the 1 peso issue dated 17th April 1900. There are also earlier dates for the 1$ of 17th October 1879 and 5th April 1900 however, so far, I have not yet seen one. There are also specimens reported (a single example in the PMG Population report) and cancelled notes for S/N 59999 to 184998. The left of the note is an armoured allegorical figure (sometimes called a man and sometimes a woman) holding a shield and spear wi...

Owner's Description:
The representative note is a 1 peso note (S101b) dated 30th June 1920 and signed by L. P. Aguirre and Javier Valenzuela Micheo (Directors) and A. R. Prentice (Manager). The front of the note depicts Cybele riding a chariot drawn by two lions, as the goddess of nature, fertility and agriculture – an appropriate representation for an agricultural mortgage bank. This association is further enforced by the scenes flanking the goddess, which highlight agricultural production and the corresponding tra...
Owner's Description:
The representative note is a 5 pesos note (S176b) dated 1st August 1916 and signed by Mariano J. Lopez and Leon de Leon Flores (Directors) and Juan S. Lara (Manager). The front of the note depicts a scene representing industry and agricultural production and the associated trade alongside the coat of arms and a quetzal – the national bird and the name used for the currency in use today. The back is an intricate design incorporating the bank name.

Owner's Description:
The example note is a 5 quetzales dated 13th January 1960 which has a flying quetzal and a three legged Mayan funeral urn on the front. The note is signed by Gustavo Miron Porras (President), Jose Francisco Fernandez Rivas (Manager) and Albino Gracias Paniagua (Head of Account Control). The scene on the back is from a mural by Alfredo Galvez Suarez housed in the Palacio Nacional which shows the clash of the Spanish with the local Maya – not just swords against bows and arrows but the importance ...
Owner's Description:
As the most often encountered note, the representative note for the Comite Bancario de Guatemala entry in the Set is an example of the 1 peso issue. These seem to have been issued in batches, every 1-2 weeks or so from 18th April 1899 until 3rd August the same year. Allegorical figures representing Liberty and Justice sit either side of the Guatemalan Coat of Arms with a range of ships in the background. Vignettes of a ship (lower left) and a train (lower right) further highlight the importance ...

Owner's Description:
The representative note is $5000 first issued in 2013 (P40) and this is acknowledged with the ND(2013) label on the holder. This particular note is Series BP and was issued in 2018 as the signatories are Bobind Ganga (Governor) and Winston Jordan (Minister of Finance) rather than Lawrence Williams and Ashni Singh for the 2013 issue. The back of the note shows the typical landscape in Guyana and the national bird – the hoatzin, which seems to be unique in the bird world with blue skin and a fasci...
Owner's Description:
The smallest denomination, 50 centavos (S101) is the note in the collection representing the Aguan Navigation and Improvement Company. The other denominations are much more difficult to find, and then usually in much lower grades, with the 10 pesos being the most likely to be seen. The front of the note displays a central portrait of Luis Bogran who served as President from 1883 until 1891 and supported the project. On the left is a female figure – representing the River Aguan, Trujillo or Hondu...
