Chartered in 1881, the Peoples NB issued only sheets of 3x$10-$20 for series 1875, BB, DB, VB and PB.

While this is hardly a rare bank, this is a solid note that still retains faded purple stamped signatures of Cashier Jas. McClure and Pres. W.W. Haley. McClure would become president in 1925. Paris is a home rule-class city in Bourbon County, KY. It lies 18 miles northeast of Lexington on the Stoner Fork of the Licking River. It is the seat of its county and forms part of the Lexington–Fayette Metropolitan Area.

Sigourney is in an impressive curved font with deep shading that matches First and Iowa using the patented lettering process and thus could be associated with Gp 1. Thomas Kelly was the vice president that signed this Keokuk County bank note that is one of only three $5 Brown Backs recorded. Longtime Cashier J.R. Mackey's signature is legible, but very faded. President at the time was G.D. Woodin.

Spenser had two banks, but was the only Owen County town with NBs (FNB (2178) has none known). DBs are available in AU condition. Receiver showed up 7/30/32; Ty. 1s only. Karl I. Nutter was the only President (1910-1932) of this bank while Cashier Frank Wright was the 2d cashier from 1923-1932. Both received prison terms in 1933 for embezzling. Spencer was platted in 1820, and named for Captain Spier Spencer, who fell at the Battle of Tippecanoe, after whom Spencer County is also named.

A circulated Plain Back from this Orange County bank that had an interesting history. While it called itself the Third National, it was actually a recharter of the NB of Walden which had been a recharter of the Walden NB. Therefore, while Walden legally had three national banks over the years, they all occupied the same physical premises in successive order. In belated recognition of this fact, the Third NB changed its name to the First NB&TC in May 1930. A couple of minor repairs have been noted by PMG.
Walden is a boys' name of Old English origin, and the meaning of Walden is "wooded valley". Also form of Waldo, but better known from Thoreau's book and the pond "Walden".
