Cumberland, MD The Second NB Ch. # 1519 PMG 12 $20 1882 BB Fr. 496 SN 6856/N982969 pp A/7 dtd. July 30th 1885 A better Allegany County location found up in the western mountains of Maryland. Common enough during the Third Charter era, notes before that time are scarce with this note one of only four Brown Backs and the only $20 reported. The signatures of Cashier D(aniel) Annan and President Lloyd Lowndes are weak but there. Mr. Lowndes was governor of Maryland from 1896 to 1900.

Jan. 24, 1891 A decent, moderately circulated note from this Odebolt bank that is only the third Brown Back reported (with one of the other pieces locked away in the Higgins Museum and PCGS 15PPQ SN 2606. It has sustained only moderate, problem free wear and displays pleasing color and signatures of Joseph Mattes President and W.F. Bay Cashier. From The Konza Collection

Geneseo, NY The Genesee Valley NB Ch. # 886 $1 Fr. 380 Colby | Spinner SN 606/599126 pp C PMG Fine 12, with a few pinholes. Radar Bank SN 606. This is an evenly circulated and nicely margined ace from this Livingston County bank with a blue Treasury serial number and it is without a prefix or suffix letter. This indicates it was printed between October 4, 1865 and March 23, 1866.

Mount Independence, elevation 306 feet (93 m), is located in northwest Orwell, overlooking Lake Champlain and the town of Ticonderoga, NY. Orwell, a town in Addison County, VT, is known as the Fortress of America and the town motto is "First in Revolution, First in Recreation".
