Ang Bagong Lipunan - The New Society

After the declaration of Martial Law on Sept 21st, 1972, it took just over six months for President Ferdinand Marcos to issue Presidential Decree No.169, in April 1973. This decree demonetized all current issue banknotes from July 1st, 1973, replacing them with notes overprinted ''Ang Bagong Lipunan'' (The New Society) on the watermark area. The remaining stock of the 2nd Pinoy Text series were returned to The De La Rue Company for overprinting.
These A.B.L. overprints open an interesting field of study, as many of these notes have ''shift errors'' of the overprint, ranging from minor to very major ''shifts'', or as with some, the complete lack of the overprint altogether.
This series also sees the 1 Piso note replaced by the 2 Piso, plus changes to both the 50 and 100 Piso notes.
