Here are some "noirs", and a brand or type of comic, that in my opinion can offset the pace, which are brought to us by fairy tale writer Bruce Timm. He has a unique style that captures the cartoon side of things with more rounded curves, in a plotline as well that is, and that opinion might be due to the introductions that we had from him drawing for Batman the Animated series. Here are some risk-taking examples at writing, as well, and it sums up nicely with a bit of thriller type scenarios. These grifters of the senses will have to get what they're after in this series, All Crime Comics!
Bruce Timm has withstood the test of time, and has gone from surrealist to realizations unknown, but again through many genres and niches.
Noir and other crime type comic stories of an oriented fashion are not as dated as one might think, but have been done over and again, with some calling for a break in the cycle lest we all become cynical and afraid. I can admit to watching the NCIS and other crime dramas, but nothing, however, is so taken aback like seeing it play out in film with background music and or other mood setters. While comics on the other hand are their own stage of a person's imagination, and at some point, one needs a ground wire in something stable and or positive, in order to still keep the spark of life. While the comics make some of the crime "interesting" and or fun for a while and as often as the villain is needed to "escape" to "crime another day", it isn't the ultimate goal of the story telling. The action can seem like that we navigate with our heroes through every twist and turn toward a conclusion. Some of the fun in comics is trying to figure out who the heroes actually are, and while on "print of an illustration", it can still feel like a text that you read the wrong way and which in turn is interpreted differently by another reader. Thus is the circle of comic reading with individual fans and buddies alike, while conversing together over some interests and in some common bond. Those that indulge can nerd out to those Noir type dramas and mysteries!
