Set Description:
The Special Agro Checks in this 4-denomination series are the first time the Zimbabwean dollar was issued in denominations of 1 Billion dollars or more.

The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe issued Special Agro (Agricultural) checks from 15 May to 31 July 2008. Although of a different design and with the intention for use only by farmers, they found their way into regular use because of the parallel functions with bearer checks and the exponential rise of food prices.

All the other issues made that were not regular banknotes were labeled as "emergency" issues. For some reason they called these "Special" Agro Checks instead. They were the last "check" issues and the last issues made under the 2nd dollar before the 2nd redenomination occurred and the 3rd dollar was released.

The four denominations in this series are not the same by dimensions as the $25 billion note used a different type of paper that came from the 500 ZWD banknote of 2001 (P-10 and P-11).

The $100 billion Agro Check was the largest of the second dollar, sharing the record for the largest number of zeroes depicted on a banknote with the Yugoslav 500 billion dinar note of 1993. Both notes lost this distinction / record with the release of the 10 trillion, 20 trillion, 50 trillion and 100 trillion notes.
