Set Description:
Assemble a 13 Colony Type Set including one Continental specimen of $1 Dollar Notes or equivalents.
Connecticut and Delaware did not issue any $1 Dollar Colonial Notes and Pennsylvania only had one issue with only one specimen known to exist. All three of these colonies issued a number of Notes that are close to or equivalent to the value of one $1 Dollar. In most of the colonies Four 4 Shillings and 6 Pence generally equal one Spanish Milled $1 Silver Dollar. A Four 4 Shilling or Five 5 Shilling Note is a close equivalent to one $1 Dollar and will be my equivalent Note for these three colonies.
My primary approach for this collection will be to avoid obtaining Notes that are holed “Cancelled” if at all possible. The rarity of the Note and other comments will be summarized in the “Slot Comment” for each specimen. This collection is an extension of my early U.S. $1 Dollar Coin Set and my U.S. $1 Dollar Custom Type Set. Both can be found in the NGC Registry under Competitive Sets and Custom Sets.
