Owner's Description

Keene, NH The Citizens NB Ch. # 2299 PMG 25 Net $10 1875 Fr. 416 SN 2690/K296099 pp A Repaired, minor discoloration Sept. 25th, 1875. Cashier H. (Herbert) B. Viall and President O. (Obed) G. Dort. A rare early note from this Cheshire County institution. Notably, three other $10 Series of 1875 examples are recorded in the census including SN 2689 pp A PMG 2508047-011. While PMG does note some repairs and minor discoloration, both are trivial, with the note displaying great color and eye appeal for the grade. It also features a fancy title layout seen on literally a handful of Series of 1875 examples from all banks combined. This is from one of the earliest BEP prepared plates and displays a bold, thick, blocky script for the postal location and plate date found on only 8 charter numbers using 3x10-20 plates from this period. Printed on white paper with two horizontal threads which succeeded vertically banded blue-stained paper. From the David F. Noyes Collection, Part II.
