Owner's Description

The color remains bold on this evenly circulated example. Michael Hillegas's portrait appears on these $10 Gold Certificates. Hillegas (1728-1804) was the first Treasurer of the United States. He is buried in Christ Church Burial Ground in Philadelphia.
