High Grade!
The tolar was the currency of Slovenia from October 1991 until the introduction of the euro in January 2007. The definitive tolar banknotes—which were issued starting in late 1992—were brightly colored and famous for celebrating prominent historical figures in Slovenian arts, science, and politics.
The obverse depicts Baron Jurij Bartolomej Vega who was a Slovene mathematician and physicist, and artillery commissioned officer. He published many books, including the notable “Thesaurus logarithmorum completus ex arithmetica logarithmica et ex trigonometria”. He also calculated pi to 140 decimal places, achieving a world record in 1789, which held for 52 years.
The reverse displays the solar system and the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts.
